Guatemala August 2024
Thank You!
Thank you for supporting us through prayer and donations! This was a lifechanging experience for the whole family. We spent two days in a Mayan village where we got to spoil and pamper the littles with lice treatments, feet washing, and nail painting. We were also able to make home visits, bringing them food and support. The team also installed two wood burning stoves while there. These wood burning stoves are literally saving the lives of these residents. It was an impoverished community, but the team could not stop commenting on how happy the kids are. They were so sweet and laughed at our poor Spanish-speaking abilities.
Two more days were spent in San Lucas where the guys were able to help a family by tearing down a kitchen and rebuilding a new one with a stove. The climb up the steep hillside with the materials was an exhausting one, but not once did the team give up. As I was climbing this same hillside, I was being passed by some of the older residents in this community. We were able to share a laugh at my weak physical condition compared to their resiliency that is tested on a daily basis. The rest of us were able to help at a feeding center by serving food and helping in the language classes. We were also able to spend time with a family that was saved and kept together by this feeding center. This same family has now turned around and started blessing others in their community.
This is the most humbling experience we have ever had and one we wish to repeat, not only in Guatemala, but even within our own community. We brought the Gospel wherever we went. We know it was such a short time there, but the hope is that by having short-term missionaries serve in these communities, there is a constant flow of love and the hope of eternal life through Christ Jesus, who said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Again…Thank you!
